January 8 1910

Clear and balmy. Wind south.

Arose first this morning and started fires.

Hubby went to town; bot (Judge) Kimble's calves, four of them @ $10.= $40.

I failed to keep tabs on old Jersey and she fell into pump hole. We worked till 8 o'clock to get her out. Pulled her out with Dick and Milly.

Finished Julia's cloak, trim it in black velvet and red soutache braid.

Hubby rec'd notice to pay $1.50 tax on Father's personal property taxed after the estate was divided.

  1. I woke up before everyone in the house - though it wasn't early - and made breakfast. Chorizo w/ eggs, sausage and hash browns. Hung out watching the boys play games and then had a little trouble when a third friend showed up and wanted to do something else and Trenton was kind of put in the middle. Mistakes were made, feelings were tugged but everything came out fine in the end.

We left around 4 pm for the birthday party of my friends daughter - Sweet 16 - and stayed a good part of the night watching my friend play Pinochle while the kids watched movies and played hide and seek outside. During the party I had gotten a phone call from Richard, I had agreed the day before to take him somewhere and forgotten. He wasn't mad and I stayed at the party, came home to him sleeping peacefully on the couch.

Supposed to be doing school work but let it slide since it was a smaller assignment than usual and broke my suggestion to myself to not wait so long - I had started on Monday but didn't finish anything so now I have to get it all done by tonight...silly me.

Excited to see a friend and former roommate Monday night - my hairdresser became a close friend years ago, then roommate. She moved with her boyfriend to Colorado and she comes back every 6 weeks or so to keep up with her friend clients. Double booked for Tuesday! OOPS!

Still waiting for the call on whether or not I have the job, fingers crossed. Not looking forward to the OTHER appointment I have on Tuesday with the mom and grandmother of the girls with the counselor but I hope that we get something established from it. We are setting rules to be in place at both houses with the same consequences so the girls have a sense of consistency when they visit over there. Nervous but glad it is being done.

  2. Had two good shots today. Second shoot was filmed for an online thing. It is strange to work while you know someone is filming.

Came home and made dinner. Baked bruschetta, artichokes, fresh veggies in pasta with basil and olive oil. We ate at the big table. Julia and Ace had a small food fight with artichoke leaves. Good stuff.

Julia was tired from crew so she went to bed. Ace and I played a game of banana-gram, the game I got for Christmas. Ace won by one tile....I'll get you next time college boy!

Looking forward to a couple of days off.

  3. Today is William's 40th birthday- Dana's best friend of almost 3 decades.
We headed down the coast to spend the weekend with him and his beautiful family.

We arrived early in the day to help prep for his dinner. Alicia is a few weeks away from giving birth (to a boy), and we wanted to clean the house and help ease William's dinner cooking burden. William loves to cook, is excellent at it, and we love him and his food VERY MUCH. He put together quite a spread for his 40th- wonderful. His older sister and a few of their amazing local friends joined us, and it was an absolutely lovely evening. All my favorites: friends, food, laughs, and a fire pit.

The joy continued late in to the night, or early into the morn, and then we all settled into a nice slumber party.
