  1. Slept in!!!!

Started the day behind already, but got enough accomplished in the end.

Collected Jack's friend Anders and set out to gather all their science fair project bits. Tacos from a taco stand for lunch. Introduced the boys to Weezer and The Rentals- they loved.

Took the dog to the park, cleaned house, then Anders came back over to start to put together the project- some supercars with electric motors. Dana worked with them, and then we had pizza and took a Top Gear break- they want to do a few 'challenges' for their project. Took Anders home around 8, put away the laundry and settled in to read and catch up...

  2. Absolutely beautiful sunny glorious weather.

Long-ish day at work. Worked really hard for not so much profit. Some days are like that. We had a really really hard time getting out of bed.

We took breaks throughout the day and it kept the spirits high. Pulled over to watch a stunning sunset on the way home.

It is Ace's last night in town until May. We went to HeavenSent for "dessert for dinner" Yum.....YUM!

Then we headed to National Comedy Theater to see some local improv. We have been meaning to go there for a couple of years. It is all ages comedy so it seemed perfect to do with the kids. Poor Julia was so tired from an early crew day that she stayed home to nap instead. I was a little afraid it might be dumb and not funny. I was so wrong. I have not laughed so hard in forever! Belly laughs I really needed. We all laughed. We all decided that we are going back soon. This is on the top of the list for every visitor from out of town. I am no prude but it was really nice that it was "clean" humor. I just made it a bit smarter, rather than just dissolving into sex humor which can be funny but becomes boring when it is the only topic like the last few times we have been to the Comedy Store. So if you are coming to visit us....prepare to be in stitches.

So I am preparing for another teary airport goodbye. I am so happy that Ace is off to college and it is profound as a parent to watch him maturing so into such an outstanding young man. However we will all miss him as soon as he is gone. But that is for tomorrow. Tonight we ate dessert and laughed and had a wonderful time. That is what I am holding onto as I go to bed.

  3. Weather was unusually dense and mucky, kind of foggy throughout the day, strange as the last couple days were so nice.

Should have done homework but got involved in life today. I don't even know what all we did but I for sure didn't do homework. I am getting through the biggest pile of laundry we have ever had slowly but steadily and should be done by the middle of next week if I don't miss a day - doing laundry for 5 is very different than 2.

Went to the Strikes Bowling in Elk Grove for a friends birthday party, it was someone I haven't had contact with in a while and it is nice to be in touch again. She moved in next door to us in Foresthill when I was in elementary school and now she lives less than a mile from me in Foothill Farms!

Trying to catch up a little on the homework now but having trouble and I don't know why.

Not feeling well the last couple days, nothing serious - just a scratchy throat and some crampy abdominals but still enough to make life a little miserable. Trying to see the positive but it's hard when you don't feel your best. Going to push through and get what I can done and try to salvage tomorrow, the girls come home.

  4. A weekend without plans is rare around these parts. We dedicated our morning to thrift storing. Sadie has been wanting a pair of crutches so she insisted that we go. She didn't have to twist my arm.

Joy and Tim and their crazy Labrador, Honeybear stopped in for a visit. It was a short visit, but it was a nice one.

I wanted a big pot of chicken soup for dinner. Eva and I had been discussing it all week, so I had to make it happen! Eva said she'd help make it, but for some reason that didn't happen. I guess I misunderstood, but found myself somewhat perturbed. I guess it was after I heard that they would be eating at someone else's house for dinner...I was confused.

Mark and Eva eventually did join us for chicken soup and Chris did too. He brought some brownies.

Scotty, Sadie, Cooper and I found ourselves later in the evening at The Verge Gallery Success Party. Cooper and Sadie were the only kids there. They had a ball! I did too! That Liv Moe knows how to throw a party.

Home and in bed by 11:30... snoring the minute my head hit the pillow according to Scotty.
