January 23 1910

Loveliest day to date. No wind.

Hubby gave me a big tea box decorated in peonies in bright colors. He took the coal and kindling to school house and found an egg behind the cobs. An egg is rare in this community.

Hubby got load of wood.

I ironed, mended and bathed the children.

Baked.

Did evening chores while Hubby got calf from John Ahlquist. (A beauty)

  1. Today was only slightly more productive than yesterday. A little chilly but the sun was out, I unfortunately had to stay indoors because I needed to get homework done. I slacked off as much as I could and finally turned it in at the last minute. I don't know why I can't get myself motivated this session, I have 11 more months to go and need to get back on track! It isn't even a difficult class, sociology, the assignments are smaller and simpler too, just having trouble this time. Girls came home a little high strung as usual, they went outside with Trenton and Richard and worked off SOME of the energy they came home with but not all... they were kindof buzzing at dinner time, couldn't sit still but ate all so I didn't complain. Let them try to get the rest of it out before showers and then they fell asleep the quickest ever tonight! So thankful for the sunny day! Having a party for Richards 31 belly button birthday, 3 year sobriety birthday and our unofficial housewarming party. We were going to put it off due to lack of funds because of the car, but when he tried to postpone to those that had already been invited they said they were coming anyway and bringing food. I thankfully am getting a small award from school (it was less than they loaned me so I am picking up the difference - woo hoo!) so that will help with the festivities! I'm getting a pinata shhhhhhh, its a surprise! Back to the grind tomorrow, the 2 hour drop off and pick up schedule, UGH...hopefully I will be motivated enough to get some homework done so I am not getting it turned in at the last minute anymore.

  2. Sunny Sunday off.

I had planned to spend some time with friends and get out a bit but I decided to indulge this need I am having to be at home and putter. Mike joined me and we ended up outside with a chainsaw doing tree removal. We made a huge mess and are very sore but I had a wonderful day. I moved some plants around the yard. Change kitchen patio from Terra cotta to galvanized pots. Started planning the metal trash can water feature for by the kitchen door.

I had to sort through a pile of stuff that was supposed to go to the thrift store but got caught in the rain instead and was now a big moldy pile of yuck. Note to self about not letting that happen again.

Had dinner with around sunset and settled in to a nice couch night and a glass of wine. I am a little sore but happy.

  3. Slept late again, yay!, and woke up to fog.

It burned off slowly, and I made the decision to do something fun for my new house, while getting out of the house myself. The boys putzed around with my car- replacing the headlights, etc., and I took Landy to an antique store to get inspiration, and then the paint store to pick out the brightest white I could find. The tulip table and chairs I had seen online was overpriced for it's condition, but I did find a little shop with lots of the pottery I like, and several small pieces of art that I probably won't be able to live without- once I figure out my new space...

I got weak quickly, though being out in the sun felt good, and was happy to get a call from my mom inviting me to dinner. I took Jack over there so they could watch football (Dana actually went to a friend's to watch, though he could care less about the sport), and she fed me salmon and sweet potatoes while I read and they watched.

We all got home about the same time, and cleaned up and turned in.
I'm trying not to feel the pressure of a missed week packing the house, and am hoping to feel strong enough soon to get started!

  4. After an emotional day yesterday, today was about comfort food.

We went to lunch with Adam & Shabnam at Olive Garden, then went to go see Green Lantern (3d)

A big bowl of pasta in cream always seems to make me feel better... Just can't do that too often or I'll start to look like a big bowl of pasta :)

The movie was cute, not sure it was worth seeing in 3d. There were some cartoon graphics in the credits that looked AMAZING in 3d but the movie as a whole didn't need it.
