January 17 1910

Cloudy, cold and rain. Wind W. to N.

Took Julia to school. Teacher wanted Hubby to fix bell rope, get her some kindling and let her off to take week from Fri.

Helped hubby unload poultry pen and put Mitchell Box on iron wagon. He got 4 calves from Kimble. Jim Churchill brot Julia past on way home.

We got fodder and shocked it around calf stable. The calves are fine ones.

Saved a little wood. Pryed up panel to let calves thru.

Hubby fell on ice and hurt his hip.

  1. I spent the day with Julia my lovely daughter. We seem to do our best chatting in the car....no distraction I guess. So we decided to drive to Glendale [over 100 miles from home] to exchange the Vera Bradley duffel I bought her for Christmas for a pattern. Despite the horrible traffic on the way there we had a lovely trip. Looked at a few shops, had lunch and did some people watching. We talked all the way home too. Even though we live together sometimes we just need a bunch of uninterrupted hours to get caught up.

We went to fresh & easy and did the weeks grocery shopping and came home. 9 hours, round trip.

Mike is reworking his studio space so Julia and I had dinner on the couch watching the latest Celebrity Rehab. The perfect end to our day.

  2. Mondays are always difficult, today was a different kind but no exception. No school makes for easier mornings but tougher afternoons. The kids seem to be more needy and underfoot, they don't want to play with their own toys so we decided to start giving them to underprivileged children that will appreciate them, I believe they don't think we will go through with it but honestly don't think they will even notice since there are SO MANY they don't play with. Got through ALL of the laundry - aside from that half load that is always left over - purged socks because we couldn't find matches and cleaned the rest of the house. We had made plans for the girls to go and spend some time with a friend from the apartments we used to live in and they had a good time. It was nice for us to visit a friend as well, made plans to "steal" her someday because she has no vehicle and three kids, one on homestudy, one in school and one in diapers...she needs a well deserved break!
Trenton learned a hard lesson about friendship, or lack thereof when he had found out that someone he considered to be one was saying horrible things about people behind their backs - including Trenton. Too bad, he seemed like a nice kid, apparently puts on a good face for the parents, sad.
Still need to catch up on school work, need to watch a movie for an assignment, don't have it readily available so it will be turned in later than I thought, I am having a hard time focusing on school this session, I hope it changes soon. Motivation doesn't seem available to me, I have to find it quickly - it is hard to think about work, school, family and having a life as well - I have to try to remember the sacrifice will be worth it...
Kids back in school tomorrow and we will be back on schedule. Wednesday brings a very important appointment that is on the forefront of my mind, breathing, counting and finding courage to fight the good fight - hopefully it won't come to that.

  3. Woke up all the way sick. Aches, coughs, the whole bit.

Had flaked on a snowshoeing trip to purge the attic, and got neither.
Fixed my self some tea and some leftover gingerbread, snuggled under the blankets and got to work. Sigh. I spent so much time Friday on the house, it was only fair that I catch up.

Anders came over to work on the science fair project- the boy banter was driving me batty today under the sick circumstances. They worked for a few hours with Dana, and then we took my mom up on a dinner offer. I felt terrible, but I needed to get out of the house. Off to Andy Nguyens, where I knew I could get some delicious gingery, garlicy, soupy awesomeness. They did not disappoint.

The millionth cup of hot tea of the day, and I'm hoping for a solid night's sleep.

  4. An easy Monday.
The kids had the day off to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Scotty stayed home to work on a presentation for work.

For dinner we took advantage of the happy hour at the sushi bar. Yum yum.

Scotty and Cooper had Yolos practice. Richie, Katie, Mark and Keith came over. I am really enjoying being an audience member. They sounded great, though it took a lot for me not to jump in and harmonize. Their show is this Saturday! Can't wait!

Sadie and I made Bird's Custard, played with the shells and rocks that my mom left her, and did experiments with marbles. Sadie must be going through a growth spurt. Her clumsiness is killing me. It's funny, though extremely frustrating.

Talked to my mom today. She sounds happy!

Another early day tomorrow. Scotty will out of the house before me. He is working if Fresno for a few days.
