January 24 1910

Clear and Bright. Warm S. E.

Took Julia to school and carried coal.

Stood around all day and watched Hubby.

He put me up 1 ridge pole in the stable and south side of calf shed. He also felt "grippy".

Commenced feeding Milly worm powder.

Hitched Milly and Pet to iron wagon and got Julia.

Helped with chores.

  1. Sunny today, unfortunately couldn't enjoy too much of it. The morning started out horrific, 4 year old back to throwing temper tantrums, kicking, screaming, crying - it was not good. This was after I had to leave her and dad home because she was not willing to get ready this morning and everyone else would have been late. Richard has been on edge all day and has been making things difficult for everyone. Rhiannon had a yellow card today - that means she got warnings, this time for playing in class, like the last 6 times. She was blaming it on other students but we explained to her today that every table she has been moved to there is trouble...so the common denominator is - her! Trenton is 13 - need I say more? These kids...I love them lots but they are driving me a little crazy - as is Richard.
I received an amazing compliment from my teacher today - said that mine was one of the best papers in the class and my writing makes his job easier...patting myself on the back. I wish it was not so tense in here so I could enjoy the compliment more. Hopefully a good nights sleep will help make tomorrow a better day.

  2. Always thankful for my Monday drives to Woodland. This day I took Landy, as Dana had to work in the city and needed the Volvo- which stretches the drive out to an amble. The tule fog was dense, but burned off on the other side of the river. I took a different route in- along 80 though Davis, but then off onto a good long stetch of farm roads. The Coast Range was clear and bright today, but no sign of the Sierras. I found a few more HUGE old plantation homes, and also a farm stand that's open all year. I'll be stopping there regularly, I'm sure. Today looked to be all butternut squash, and I just wasn't in the mood for that.

I got dizzy quickly while shooting today, and half the school was absent due to a stomach flu. Lord, please don't let that settle in me- I might actually die! It took me extra long in my state, and I got out of there late. I've been living off stomach shrinking soup all week, so I wasn't really hungry by the time I left, but I took the country roads to the winery where I always see the pasty sign and popped in. The tasting room smelled like a darkroom, which wasn't very appetizing. The pasty was flavorful, but dry as usual. The only pasty I've ever had that was moist enough for me was an apple one up in Grass Valley, full of cinnamon and almost like a pie filling.

Went straight to school and worked in the Dutra House sunroom til Jack was out. He took Charlie to the park while I made an early dinner of sweet potato gnocchi in a butter sauce with chicken apple sausage and bread. Dana got home just in time and the boys took off for basketball practice right after. I caught up on work, and now we're all in bed looking forward to a good snooooze.

  3. I have become really fascinated with the new person in my belly.

She's moving enough to be felt on a regular basis and has started to actually make my stomach move on it's own.

It is a strange sensation to feel her then see her actually affect her surroundings. There is almost a little disconnect in the feeling and seeing the outside move.

She still goes quiet as soon as she hears her dad's voice, so I haven't been able to show Mathew yet.
He's convinced she doesn't like him, which we all know isn't true. I think she stops to listen to his voice.

  4. Sunny again, almost hot.

Mike and I went to the zoo. We joined as members so we can go all of the time. What a lovely place to take walk. I am especially in love with tiger canyon.

Ace called and he has been nominated as the Leader of the year at his fraternity. I am so proud of him. He is a wonderful young man.

Came home and rested a bit. Helped Julia make some buttons. Then headed out to a Going away party for Dan. It was at Lisa and Jack's house. The party was lovely. Had wonderful conversations, food and laughs. What a wonderful evening.

I don't feel ready for the week end to be over.
