Warm & cloudy. Wind S to S.W.
Looked at goods from order till after eleven o'clock last night.
Everybody cross today.
Hard on the children.
Broke resolution No. 1. At least hubby said if he was a man instead of a piece of one he would take his bag and baggage and get out.
Anyway we had a difference and I got worsted but learned the adage; "in matrimony" at least whatever goes wrong, grin and bear it"
Hereafter I will do the best I can without complaint or defense. The children shall witness no more "scenes" if I can help it. He is good in many ways.
Baked. Made 2 pr. mittens for hubby.
Another day thrifting.
ReplyDeleteI found two pair of cowboy boots, a wool skirt, a t-shirt for Cooper, a ton of books, an enlarger, and another pair of crutches for Sadie. We're going to end up tripping over all the crutches in the house and we'll be in luck because after we twist our ankles, we'll need 'em and they'll be laying right there next to us.
Had a nice little lunch at Whole Foods.
Came home and cleaned up the enlarger. It was inexpensive and I wanted it. I figure Scotty has a few projects going, it's my turn to have one too.
Sadie is having a sleepover with our neighbor, Janine. They keep calling me into Sadie's room to watch their ballet routine. Pretty sweet.
It's a cross between ballet, moshing and disco.
Guess what's for dinner. Yep, chicken soup.
Tomorrow is Monday and Martin Luther King Day. The kids are out of school, Scotty will have a "home office" day and I'll be up bright and early to begin another work week.
Scotty and Cooper have Yolos practice Monday and Wednesday for their show on Saturday.
I have my first running class on Tuesday and again on Saturday.
Alkali Flats practice on Thursday for our recording session coming up in two weeks -more on that as the date approaches.
I can understand her "doing the best she can without complaint" and not having the children witness any more scenes. Thankfully I did not have one of those days though we did get the girls back today. Their grandma took me outside to talk about the problems that she is seeing from them at her house but we don't see at ours. We have done far too much changing of the scheduling - we switched to the current one just a few months ago and I don't want to go back. They have adjusted so well here, there isn't much we can do about how they act at the other household except meet with them and the counselor together to keep things as much the same everywhere for them. The appointment is this Wednesday and I am not nervous this time because I am finally ready to stand up for these girls no matter what, even if I have to step out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteToday was TERRIBLY unproductive as far as needs go but I finally got through ALL of my laundry...homework - not so much. Oh well, just one week. No school tomorrow for the kids so we are going to take them to visit a friend from the apartments, drop off an invitation to our party and get some information for a release of liability for the sale of a car - tomorrow will be productive, still not in the school way for me but I will catch up. Still no word on jobs but I am ok with that right now, I need to start work soon but am not ready to just yet... I am sure that everything will work out
A gray winter day- we were hoping for sun, as we had a lot of outside work to do today.
ReplyDeleteWoke early and made cocnut chai and gingerbread for brekkie. Perused the slowcooker books for the week's recipes and went to the store- ravioli lasagne, clam chowder and honey glazed chicken. Picked up boxes from my mom and friend Loretta. Quick visits, both, as I had a lot on my list today.
Started the ravioli, put on my grungies and got into the garage. Purged two giant ikea bags to donate, and filled the garbage and recycling bins. Once all that was clear, Jack dove into his three toy bins while Dana and I went out back to clean out and break down the pool- the cover came off and it's full of leaves and all wet :( Recently purchased shop vac made rather quick work of it. Wanted to get all the outdoor furniture cleaned up and broken down, but didn't get that far before dark. Jack actually purged down to half of one bin- so glad he's able to let go. It used to be hard for him to donate his toys.
Today was the first day all week all of us didn't snap at each other all day- t'was nice. For my part, I just needed to hide all the house papers- step away from the brain overwhelmer! I'm sure the calming of my tension calmed the boys.
We came in from the garage and yard just in time for the slowcookering to be done, and boy did the place smell great! We were all flthy, so we cleaned up a bit and sat down to our hearty warm dinner easy peasy. So nice to have it done already after a day like today!
I feel a cough lurking in my throat. Drinking tea and getting to bed!
Warm and sunny and so so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJulia and I Made waffles with strawberries and bananas. Took the morning slowly and we all prepared to take Ace to the airport.
I know he his happy to be heading back to school but I am sure he will miss the weather. It is 13 degrees in Manhattan KS with and ice storm on the way. We won't see him again until May.
Got home from the airport and puttered around the house doing some cleaning and empty nest wandering.
Went out and bought a new garden wagon. Big inflated wheels with a dumping function. Took about and hour to assemble. I don't know hwy I didn't buy this tool years ago. I LOVE IT! Cleared the river rock out of the front yard in 2 trips.
Planted a navel orange tree in the back yard and bought a lemon for the front yard. Made a nice saute with collards, ground beef and brown rice and topped it with tarragon yogurt sauce.
Rented two movies and didn't really like either of them. It was okay though. It was really just about snuggling on the couch with mike.
